An 88-acre camping park with 6,180 feet of freshwater shoreline immediately east of the interstate. Named for its original peacefulness, the park has lost some of its reputation for quiet since the freeway went in. Still, the area possess great natural beauty and the noise of I-5 can be avoided by using the woodland campsites. Cape Disappointment State Park (formerly Fort Canby State Park) is a 1,882-acre camping park on the Long Beach Peninsula, fronted by the Pacific Ocean. The park offers 27 miles of ocean beach, two lighthouses, an interpretive center and hiking trails. Visitors enjoy beachcombing and exploring the area's rich natural and cultural history. The nearby coastal towns of Ilwaco and Long Beach feature special events and festivals spring through fall.

The park includes 9,500 feet of freshwater shoreline on the Columbia River. The park has 29 tent spaces, one restroom and two showers. The main camp area is an older camp in a forested setting suited more for tents than RVs. There are a limited number of sites that accommodate RVs over 20 feet (may have limited availability).
