Located at the western gateway of the Columbia River Gorge, Lewis & Clark State Recreation Site appropriately honors its legendary namesakes who camped and explored here in November, 1805. The park is situated near the mouth of the Sandy River where it spills into the mighty Columbia River and at one of the entrances to the Historic Columbia River Highway. A flat, grassy, tree-dotted park invites blankets and sun-lovers to come spend a leisurely day. Chinook Landing is a 67-acre marine park with a six-lane public boat ramp, picnic area with a large parking lot, flush restroom, a seasonal river patrol station, and connections to Portland's 40 mile loop trail. The site also includes interpretive signage, mainly about the nearby wetlands. Lewis and Clark likely stopped near the site. Rooster Rock State Park features a large beach, boat ramp, and basin on the Columbia River; nature trails and exhibits; clothing optional beach; and the opportunity for group picnic reservations. Lewis and Clark signage. The boat launch is on a small inlet, a short paddle away from the Columbia mainstem.

Public boat ramp and adjacent swimming beach with a large parking lot, restrooms, and connection to the 40 mile loop trail system. The Multnomah County Marine Patrol office is located adjacent to the boat ramp.

Regional park with facilities, interpretive signage, and a sandy beach. Popular summer spot for swimming, wading, and picnicking. Access to the river requires a long (1/4 mile at least) walk. Lewis and Clark established a camp here on 31 March 1806 and remained 6 days as they secured provisions for their return trip. The park is owned by the Port of Camas-Washougal, but maintained by City of Vancouver Parks and Rec. See the official webpage here .

Dalton Point is a free, day-use site maintained by Rooster Rock State Park. Depending on water levels, the best launch is probably the wide, two lane, older concrete boat ramp. Phoca Rock and Cape Horn are both easily accessible across the river from this site, but beware winds and commercial boat traffic as you cross.

A small site owned by the City of Washougal with off-street parking and a long fishing dock. The site serves as west trailhead for hike/bike trail that follows the dike. The primary component of the park is a long floating dock that can be used for launching.

The Port of Camas-Washougal Boat Ramp and Marina includes a well maintained four- lane boat ramp, transient tie up slips, and 356 moorage slips. The Parkersville Historical park is adjacent to the boat ramp and includes restrooms, seating areas, interpretation, and occasional summer concerts and community events. A large interpretive kiosk is located directly adjacent to the boat ramp with clear site instructions and other relevant signage. Downtown Washougal is a relatively short walk away, and the Puffin Cafe, a floating restaurant and bar, is directly adjacent to the boat ramp. Finally, the

This site is little more than a dead-end road at the Columbia's edge with private property on all sides. The Landing is not developed and has no facilities of any kind. Please do not wander onto adjacent private property.

As a launch site, the site presents particular challenges, specifically a long walk to the shore, and an undeveloped shore line without a specific launch point. Having said that - the site provides an access point to a unique area of the river in an area without many other access points.
