Big Canoe Program During the summer months we offer free paddle programs for schools, camps, and community organizations in the lower Columbia region of Oregon and Washington. Our goal is to support our partners and provide opportunities for individuals to explore their local waterway.

Felida Moorage Boat Ramp / NW 122nd Street

Felida is a private moorage on Lake River near the head of the river (the confluence of Vancouver Lake and Lake River). The moorage has a small, paved boat ramp available for public use for a small parking and launch fee. The moorage includes a houseboat community just downstream of the boat ramp. The parking is gravel and a bit rough - but there are generall plenty of spaces (about 30 are available). The site can be hard to find for first timers - so have the right address and mapping application. Lake River is tidally influenced - so water levels can vary at the ramp. Photos below are from

Mittleman Jewish Community Center stormwater project

The Estuary Partnership is collaborating with the Mittleman Jewish Community Center and the Portland Jewish Academy on a green stormwater infrastructure project to improve the water quality of Fanno Creek, reduce the heat island effect, and improve habitat for pollinators and birds.

Meet the Students for Clean Water video contest winners

Join us in congratulating the winners of the 2024 Students for Clean Water video contest! Organized by the Southwest Washington Stormwater Partners, the contest received 25 impressive video submissions. We proudly sponsored the event and served as judges. These creative and educational stormwater videos help raise awareness about the importance of clean water and effective stormwater management.

Have you spotted our Big Canoes yet?

Our 2024 Big Canoe season is well underway! We have been out on dozens of paddle programs with community partners already this year and have many more planned before summertime ends. Our environmental educators have been having a fun time paddling with community partners on waterways throughout the Columbia River watershed, including the Willamette River at Cathedral Park, Willamette Park, and Fred’s Marina in Linnton; Vancouver Lake and Lake River; the Tualatin River at Cook Park; and Cullaby and Coffenbury Lakes in Clatsop County.
