A 42.4 acre man-made island a few minutes paddle from downtown St. Helens, just downstream of the Multnomah Channel and Columbia River confluence. The island is a mix of cottonwood forest and grassy areas. The City of St. Helens recently renovated the island and operates a campground, open from March through October. Reservations are required and can be made at the Sand Island Campground website . The camp host can also accept day-of walk up or phone reservations, if spots are available. A 5.5 acre, recently renovated day use and overnight park on the Columbia River adjacent to Washington State Route 4. The site includes a renovated restroom building with showers, ample parking, electrical hook-ups, picnic sites, fishing platform, trails and open space, an RV area, and a separated three-spot tent campground. All tent and RV sites can be reserved ahead of time.

A Safeway and a handful of Clatskanie area restaurants are within easy walking distance of the Beaver Boat Ramp and the Clatskanie City Park. See this Google Map for more details.

A small country store just out of site from the river. The store has typical convenience-store items, including premade sandwiches and wildlife parking permits, and a small deli for fresh sandwiches. There is a picnic table, portable toilet, and pay phone outside. Store hours are 8 to 5 seven days a week during off-season, and 7 to 7 Memorial Day to Labor Day. The get to the store from the river, beach around a rock oucropping just downriver of River Beacon 28. Most of the year there is a nice sandy beach, but during high water months the beach is covered, leaving only a rocky shoreline.
