Meet the Students for Clean Water video contest winners

Join us in congratulating the winners of the 2024 Students for Clean Water video contest! Organized by the Southwest Washington Stormwater Partners, the contest received 25 impressive video submissions. We proudly sponsored the event and served as judges. These creative and educational stormwater videos help raise awareness about the importance of clean water and effective stormwater management.

Protecting Water (long video) first place winner: Andrew Locke, Water Powered World
“My name is Andrew Locke and I go to Union High School. My favorite lake is Round Lake because I have been going there since I was a lot younger. Protecting water is important to me because without clean and healthy water, places like Round Lake wouldn't look so beautiful.”
Protecting Water (short video) first place winners: Oliver Murray and Gavin Parks, Dangers of Car Oil
“My name is Gavin Parks and I attend Vancouver iTech Preparatory. My favorite stream/river/lake is the Columbia River, I think that the salmon migration that takes place in the river is fascinating. Protecting water is important to me (and should be important to everyone) because of the fact that without proper water quality, our environment's natural biodiversity is threatened. Which in turn jeopardizes large aspects of modern society such as the agricultural and pharmaceutical industries.”

“My name is Oliver and I go to Vancouver iTech Preparatory. My favorite river is the Lewis River. Protecting water is important to me because unsafe water would destroy the biodiversity and scenery in my town.”
Community Storytelling first place winner: Olivia Droubay, Celilo Reservoir
“My name is Olivia and I go to Vancouver iTech Preparatory. My favorite stream/river/lake is the Columbia River. Protecting water is important to me because the right to clean drinking water and environmental safety has not been protected. Communities, such Indigenous communities whose land, culture, and safety has been disrespected and neglected, deserve to be heard.”
Clean Water for All first place winners: Alexander Fry and Anikait Antal, iTuna
Alexander and Anikait attend Ridgefield High School
People’s Choice first place winner: Joseph Leon Jr., Clean Water for All
Joseph attends Laurin Middle School, located in Battle Ground
