Undeveloped primitive camping on land owned by the State of Oregon. No facilities. Tides are extreme and water levels can change quickly. Pay particular attention to choosing a campsite location with variable water levels in mind. Paddling near the mouth of the Columbia River can be extremely dangerous and is not recommended for any paddler is not an expert. Conditions can become dangerous vary quickly and the combination of an outgoing tide and the river's current can easily sweep a boat out to sea. The island is near a boating channel connecting the Port of Ilwaco to the Columbia River that can be extremely busy during fishing and crabbing seasons at all times of day and night.
